Simplex and Duplex Basket Strainers
A simplex basket strainer is suitable where the line can be isolated for planned cleaning. A duplex basket strainer provides two filtration chambers so flow can be directed through one chamber while the other is safely isolated, depressurised, drained and serviced. The correct configuration depends on process continuity, debris loading, cleaning frequency and operating risk.
Materials and Options
Available construction options include cast or fabricated carbon steel, stainless steel and compatible special materials. Basket, gasket, fastener, coating, vent, drain and differential pressure connection requirements are selected for the stated process medium and project specification.
Selection Information
For accurate sizing and quotation, provide the line size, flow rate, fluid, viscosity, solids type and loading, required retention size, design pressure, design temperature, connection standard, allowable clean pressure drop and documentation requirements. The basket opening should retain the required particle size while maintaining practical open area and cleaning intervals.
Installation and Maintenance
Install the unit in the flow direction shown on the body and provide independent pipe supports, upstream and downstream isolation, safe vent and drain routing, and adequate vertical space for basket removal. Establish a clean differential pressure baseline during commissioning and use the project-defined increase to plan cleaning.
